PPE 2894: PPE Gateway Course

This course offers an integrated study of philosophy, politics, and economics. The course teaches students to make decisions that are not only economically sound, but also socially, ethically, and politically informed. Core topics include human nature, self-interest vs altruism, social cooperation, distributive justice, markets, and democracy.

Why take it?

In this course, students will grapple with essential human predicaments, ethical demands, and issues of social cooperation, allowing them to develop skills that will serve them well in their future academic, professional, and civic lives. They’ll leave the course as independent thinkers who can form their own opinions about topics, present their views clearly to an audience, and defend their positions against critical responses.

PPE 2894 fulfills Pathways requirements in Critical Thinking in the Humanities OR Reasoning in the Social Sciences. It also fulfills a requirement in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Pathways minor.
