Pathways for Transfer Students
Welcome to Virginia Tech and Welcome to Pathways General Education!
By participating in the Pathways General Education program, you will build on and expand your skills, knowledge, and perspectives to engage with the world's most pressing issues, succeed in a variety of jobs and careers, as well as tapping your interests and passions to continue a life of learning.

The Virginia Tech Transfer Admissions page is a great place to start and learn more about transfer requirements, resources, and of course, the application process.
The Virginia Tech Transfer Guide is a helpful tool for seeing how your credits will or may transfer, and for examining transfer-specific policies, etc.
There's even a Transfer Experience Living Learning Community that might be right for you!
Students completing a transferable VCCS associate degree enjoy special benefits relating to Pathways requirements when they transfer. See the Pathways Overview Handout for Transfer Students for more details.
Start by going to the Virginia Tech Transfer Equivalency Database.
Once you have found the VT course equivalent, see if that course is approved for Pathways in the Pathways Course Guides.

Once you have found the VT course equivalent for your credit, you can see if that course is approved for Pathways in the Pathways Course Guides.
Once you are an enrolled VT student, talk to your advisor about this issue.
This Table of Pathways Course Transfer Recommendations includes reviews/approvals already completed. If you see your course (with matching institution) listed, talk to your advisor about whether your course should meet those specified requirements.
If it is not listed and you both agree it might qualify and works for your plan of study, then submit this Pathways Course Review Request Google Form. Be sure to read all the instructions at the top and have your advisor's support before submitting.
You could pursue a Pathways Minor as a means of completing some (if not all) of your remaining Pathways Gen Ed Requirements. These minors cover important issues like sustainability, social justice, water, food security, disabilities, and many more.
