MGT 3444: Multicultural Diversity in Organizations

This course evaluates the impact of multicultural diversity on the employee’s work experience and on organizational processes and performance. Students analyze and discuss theories and practices related to the business case for diversity, exploring the processes through which multicultural diversity (both domestic and international) affects the organization and its stakeholders. Topics include multicultural diversity theories, legislation, interpersonal and international differences, cultural intelligence, and organizational practices.

Why take it?

This course will enable students of any major to acquire the cultural intelligence necessary to navigate and contribute to multiculturally diverse post-college communities. Students will have the skills to communicate with and manage individuals who are different from themselves, use differences to enhance (rather than hinder) problem-solving and creativity, think critically about organizational and societal barriers to inclusion, and approach the world of business with attention to the ethical treatment of all people.

Prerequisite: Junior standing.

This course fulfills Pathways requirements in Reasoning in the Social Sciences, Critical Analysis of Identity and Equity in the United States, and Intercultural and Global Awareness.
